Ahjaah
Lehman College Graduate & Actor
PowerGirl Ahjaah joined POYT in 2016. She was raised in a single-parent household. Ahjaah is super-talented and dreams of becoming the first Black woman with disabilities to win a Tony award. Ahjaah received a PowerGirl scholarship in 2018 and attended Lehman College. She has earned two college degrees and is currently working on a third. Today, Ahjaah still loves to attend our meetings and mentors her PowerGirl sisters. She also performs in off-Broadway productions.
Alexandra
Legal Assistant & Online Boutique Store Owner
POWERGIRL Alexandra joined PowerGirls at the age of 14. She received our first PowerGirl College Scholarship in 2016 and graduated from Baruch College in 2020 with a major in Music Management. Currently, she is a legal assistant, and the owner of an online clothing boutique called STN (Second to None).
“After having been put on the spot so many times to speak in front of other girls, POYT helped me be more confident in speaking up for myself and others. I’ve been a legal assistant for the past 4.5 years. On the side, I have my own online clothing boutique, STN – Second to None. We sell elevated basics. Shameless plug…After having been put on the spot so many times to speak in front of the other girls, Power of You Teens has helped me be more confident in speaking up for myself and others. Now I won’t be speaking in front of stadiums or anything, but I can hold my own among a relatively big group of individuals.”
Awa
Doctoral Student
Awa became a PowerGirl at the age of 14 and received her PowerGirl college scholarship in 2017. She graduated with honors from Johnson C. Smith University. She received a Masters in Biomedical Science from Morehouse. She is currently a Doctoral Student at Morehouse School of Medicine.
Dejeuné
DOCTORAL STUDENT
Dejeune became a PowerGirl at the age of 14. She received her PowerGirl scholarship in 2018. Dejeune graduated from Chatham University with a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology in April 2024 with a 3.95 average. She is currently attending George Washington University as a matriculated PhD student studying Counseling.
Dejeune said, “The Power of You Teens has continued to be a tremendous support as a PowerGirl and as an alum. I have learned many valuable lessons and skills from the women in this organization. When I started POYT, I was super shy and quiet. Now, I credit the confidence I hold in public speaking to the organization. To this day, I know if I need advice, a laugh, guidance, or encouragement, I have a list of phenomenal women to call. I will forever be grateful for The Power of You Teens.”
Fatoumata
PowerGirl Fatoumata joined POYT in 2016, at the age of 11. She is the ultimate PowerGirl and graduated high school with a 4.0 GPA. Her parents are immigrants from the Ivory Coast. We’re immensely proud of Fatoumata, in 2023 she received a scholarship to Brown University! She is currently a sophomore at Brown and credits POYT for equipping her with the skills to thrive at Brown University!
Kaylah
Business Analyst
Kaylah became a member of our PowerGirl organization at the age of 12. Currently, Kaylah works as a Business Analyst in the Finance Industry at Morgan Stanley. Additionally, she actively advocates for the abolition of child welfare injustices.
Kaylah’s story received national attention and was reported by USA Today in September 2023. Kaylah noted that POYT significantly impacted her life by offering influential mentors who served as a valuable support system and became lifelong friends. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Kaylah and wish her continued success in all her future endeavors.
Kalyn
BSN, RN, Mother & Baby Registered Nurse
Kalyn became a PowerGirl at the age of 15 and received her PowerGirl scholarship in 2017. She attended the University of Fairfield and majored in Nursing. She is currently an obstetrics registered nurse and provides care for mothers and babies.
Kalyn said, “Power of You Teens has helped me in life by reminding me how important it is to just be yourself. The POYT affirmations alone show that whatever we do or want to do, we are more than capable of doing. Believing in ourselves daily helps with knowing we can pursue any career that interests us.”
Scarlett
PowerGirl Scarlett joined our PowerGirl organization in 2018 at the age of 14. Scarlett was raised in a single parent household with her mom and 6 cousins. Scarlett is incredibly talented and participated in our performing arts program. We loved watching her blossom throughout the years as she hosted many of our PowerGirl programs and conferences. Today, Scarlett is a student at the University of Plattsburgh where she is studying Childhood Special Education. She looks forward to becoming a teacher!
Solé
PowerGirl Solé joined our PowerGirl organization at the age of 11. She is a talented Fashion Designer and Stylist and recently launched her own brand named, Set Apart. She credits The Power of You Teens with helping her to sharpen her skills, inspiring her to dream big and believe in herself. She recently hosted her own Fashion Show featuring teens modeling her creative fashion designs. She is currently attending LIM College and studying The Business of Fashion.
Yayli
PowerGirl Yayli joined POYT in 2017. She is from a single parent household. We immediately recognized Yayli’s love for creativity, fashion, beauty, and art. She flourished in our Performing Arts Program. In 2019, she was awarded a PowerGirl college scholarship and attended Santa Rosa College. Today, Yayli is a well sought after make-up artist, social media maven, and entrepreneur. She recently launched YAYE BEAUTY PRODUCTS!
